History of Lake Cumberland
Lake Cumberland, one of the largest, man-made lakes in the nation, was formed by damming a large section of the Cumberland River. Today, 1255 miles of Lake Cumberland shoreline supports over 63,000 acres of water.

Pulaski County is located in South Central Kentucky and is the 3rd largest county in the state. Ideally located between the Daniel Boone National Forest and Lake Cumberland. This area attracts more than 1.5 million visitors each year.

Parks and Recreational Areas

Mill Springs Park– Authentic old water mill with one of the largest overshot water wheels in the world on the banks of Lake Cumberland. Go W. on Hwy. 90 to State Rd. 1275. Watch corn being ground, then purchase your own, freshly ground.

Big South Fork National Park– Somerset is the northern gateway to the nations’ newest recreation area. Locally known as the “Yellowstone of the East” it provides access to one of the most beautiful, unspoiled natural areas in the Eastern US.
